New Bandila Begins on Nov 22 with Julius Babao, Karen Davila and Ces Drilon
After weeks of speculations, Bandila will have its two new anchors to join Ces Oreña-Drilon beginning November 22. Karen Davila and Julius Babao who were previously replaced by Korina Sanchez and Noli de Castro in TV Patrol will join Ces in Bandila.
Ces, Karen and Julius will take the lead on bringing more interactivity in the late night news of ABS-CBN because of their presence in all social networks like Twitter. With the use of social media, they will get feedbacks faster on certain news and report it on air.
With the use of social media and having anchors as part of it, it will encourage people to participate in citizen journalism. “Bayan Mo, iPatrol Mo: Ako ang Simula” is ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs’ slogan in encouraging everyone to take part in citizen journalism. This tool will be strengthened and will be incorporated in Bandila just like what they did in TV Patrol. Bandila airs weeknights on ABS-CBN after Showbiz News Ngayon.
MANILA, Philippines - Multi-awarded broadcast journalists Karen Davila and Julius Babao are set to join Ces Oreña Drilon as anchors of ABS-CBN's late night newscast Bandila starting Monday.
ABS-CBN Corp., in a statement, announced the anchor shuffle on Friday. (The full press release is below.)
"ABS-CBN bolsters its late night newscast 'Bandila' by bringing together multi-awarded broadcast journalists Ces Oreña Drilon, Julius Babao, and Karen Davila to deliver the nation's biggest news and stories beginning Monday (Nov 22)," the statement said.
"Babao and Davila’s addition to the program also marks the dawn of a new and more interactive 'Bandila,' wherein viewers are given a chance to air their reactions to every news item," it said.
"We want our viewers to have a platform where they can immediately express themselves, where they feel empowered to take part not just in the discussion but in finding solutions to the issue at hand," Bandila's executive producer Paul Henson said.
"Known as 'working journalists,' Drilon, Babao, and Davila have established their credibility in the industry with news reports and stories they themselves have pursued, written, and produced," ABS-CBN said.
Davila is a former anchor of "The Correspondents," the news documentary program that won her awards from UNICEF Child Rights Awards (2005), Asian TV Awards (2006), and New York TV and Film Festivals (2004 and 2007).
Babao, meanwhile, anchors a radio program in DZMM and the investigative program “XXX,” where he personally joins authorities in surveillance and raids to show his commitment to the resolution of the problems raised to them.
Davila was also named Broadcast Journalist of the Year by the Rotary Club of Manila in 2004 and one of the Ten Outstanding Young Men in 2008.
Davila also won Best Female TV Newscaster in the recent 2010 PMPC Star Awards, while Babao took home the trophy in the male category for the third straight year.
The change in the anchor lineup of the network's late-night newscast comes weeks after a similar reformatting of the primetime newscast TV Patrol.
Noli de Castro and Korina Sanchez returned to the newscast last November 8, joining Ted Failon. Babao and Davila formerly co-anchored TV Patrol, along with Failon.

Ideal Christmas
We humans are accustomed to see the material world. Consequently, they become unfamiliar to the spiritual world. I heard someone saying “we must put a Christmas tree in our house so that we can have the spirit of Christmas.” I’ve also observed many people feeling unhappy because they don’t have money to buy gifts and buy food for the Nochebuena or the night of Christmas Eve. Are Christmas decorations, wrapped gifts, palatable foods, tasty wines, new dresses and money the true meaning of Christmas? Wise men will say of course not. What most people don’t know is that the true meaning of Christmas is not seen by our eyes but is seen by our hearts.
CHRISTMAS IS ABOUT GOD’S FORGIVENESS AND SALVATION. The name Jesus Christ means “Savior-King.” It represents God's universal plan for all men. He sent His son to SAVE and RESCUE man from the curse of sin (John 3:16, Galatians 3:13).
CHRISTMAS IS ABOUT GOD’S SECURITY AND JOY. Because of Christmas we should never fear of what will happen tomorrow for God will always be on our side (Psalm 27:1, Romans 8:31). Unless we internalize this message, we can never have true peace.
CHRISTMAS IS ALL ABOUT CHRIST’S LOVE FOR MANKIND - Natagpuan ng mga pastol ang sanggol na si Jesus sa isang SABSABAN, kainan ng mga hayop. This is symbolic of Christ’s mission on earth—to offfer His life as a food for humanity. He is the bread of life (John 6:51) and the living water for the thirsty (John 4:13). We should be reminded of the truth that the real essence of Christmas is JESUS Himself.
”Christmas….. is not giving in of what you have. The important thing is how each of us celebrate the essence of it. If i could remember when i was still young, this is the days that i’ve waited of. Lots of food served in the table, carolling, and of course the presents that i used to received. Let us not forget that the true meaning of christmas is "LOVE", let us share our love to others in our own simple ways.
As what the song of Jose Mari Chan says, let us not forget to "give love on christmas day",specially the street children. Children needs love and shelter to survive. Christmas Season is the joyous time of the year to many, but for the children on the streets Christmas is like an ordinary day until one takes time to share. In a cold December night a festive Christmas spirit fills the air Christmas lights are above the trees but below is a child on bended knees.
Whenever I see girls and boys
selling lanterns on the streets
i remember the Child
in the manger as He sleeps
wherever there are people
giving gifts, exchanging cards
i believe that Christmas
is truly in their hearts
selling lanterns on the streets
i remember the Child
in the manger as He sleeps
wherever there are people
giving gifts, exchanging cards
i believe that Christmas
is truly in their hearts
[refrain]
Let’s light our Christmas trees
for a bright tomorrow
where nations are at peace
and all are one in God
Let’s light our Christmas trees
for a bright tomorrow
where nations are at peace
and all are one in God
[chorus]
Let’s sing Merry Christmas
and a happy holiday
this season, may we never forget
the love we have for Jesus
let Him be the One to guide us
as another new year starts
and may the spirit of Christmas
be always in our hearts
Let’s sing Merry Christmas
and a happy holiday
this season, may we never forget
the love we have for Jesus
let Him be the One to guide us
as another new year starts
and may the spirit of Christmas
be always in our hearts
In every prayer and every song
the community unites
celebrating the birth
of our Savior, Jesus Christ
the community unites
celebrating the birth
of our Savior, Jesus Christ
let love, like that starlight
on that first Christmas morn
lead us back to the manger
where Christ the Child was born
on that first Christmas morn
lead us back to the manger
where Christ the Child was born
So, come let us rejoice
come and sing a Christmas carol
with one big joyful voice
proclaim the name of the Lord!
come and sing a Christmas carol
with one big joyful voice
proclaim the name of the Lord!
[repeat chorus 2x]
Be always in our hearts

VIRGINIA,YULETIDE DELIGHTS... ORDER HAM NOW... HURRY!
A Christmas ham or Yule ham is a traditional ham dish associated with modern Christmas, Yule and Fennoscandian Jul. The tradition is suggested to have begun among the Germanic peoples as a tribute to Freyr (pr Ingwi), a god in Germanic Paganism associated with boars, harvest and fertility. It was later popularized by the Catholic Church as a test of truthful conversion. It was referred to in a tuna shop with Ben Lionus. "Christmas Ham Juliet!"
Now, lets celebrate the holiday season with yuletide delights enjoy VIRGINIA HAMS, SMOKED
CROWN ROAST, AMERICAN TENDERIZED HAM, PINEAPPLE BALL HAM,SEASON'S DELIGHT HAM, JAMON DE BOLA, PEAR-SHAPED HAM, CHICKEN PEAR-SHAPED HAM.
According to some folklorists and historians the Christmas ham's origins in England lay in a:
"...tradition [that] was initiated in all probability on the Isle of Britain by the Anglo-Saxons, although our knowledge of it comes substantially from medieval times....[In ancient Norse tradition] sacrifice carried the intent of imploring Freyr to show favor to the new year. The boar's head with apple in mouth was carried into the banquet hall on a gold or silver dish to the sounds of trumpets and the songs of minstrels."
Now, lets celebrate the holiday season with yuletide delights enjoy VIRGINIA HAMS, SMOKED
CROWN ROAST, AMERICAN TENDERIZED HAM, PINEAPPLE BALL HAM,SEASON'S DELIGHT HAM, JAMON DE BOLA, PEAR-SHAPED HAM, CHICKEN PEAR-SHAPED HAM.
So, why ham at Christmas? Apparently, serving ham arises from the pre-Christian Norse tradition of killing a boar and serving it to honor Freya, one of the Norse Gods. In AD times, St. Stephen, whose feast day is December 26th, is often depicted as serving a boar’s head as an offering. And, as often happens when diverse traditions converge around the feasting table: Christmas ham was born.
Now, armed with some history, it’s time to more fully explore ham: cured versus uncured, smoked versus unsmoked, country ham versus….city ham? Let’s explore and demystify this traditional holiday offering.
First of all, ham generally comes from the rear haunch of a pig or boar. It is one huge piece of meat and can be sold with or without the bone. Ham is a part of food traditions in many countries (think Italian prosciutto), but nowhere are the laws about ham more strict than in Spain. You’ll know why, if you ever get to taste Spanish ham, or jamon.
In the US, ham is regulated by curing process and water content. Thin-sliced ham we see packaged as lunch meat can have upwards of 10% water added. For Christmas, let’s concern ourselves with the “traditional” clove studded, crosshatched beauty straight out of a Norman Rockwell painting.
Fresh ham—uncooked and uncured—is available for purchase, but this won’t taste like “ham.” It will taste like pork. Most folks want a ham-flavored ham for Christmas. Here, you have a couple of choices.
What About Baked Ham
Your other choice for ham for the holidays is a baked ham. A baked ham has been wet cured (soaked in brine or injected with brine), and smoked. The brine contains salt, sugar or honey, nitrates or nitrites and other flavorings/spices. Baked hams can come either fully or partially cooked, so check the labeling on your ham.
Most of these Christmas hams are baked and served with some sort of glaze to impart extra flavor and sweetness to the outside of the ham. It is this salty-sweet combination that is so appealing about holiday ham. Glaze recipes abound in family traditions, in cookbooks and magazines and on the Internet. Choose the glaze with the flavors you most enjoy.
Be sure to check out my Baked Ham Recipe.
Spiral Hams
Many baked hams come spiral sliced to make them easier to serve, especially if they are served on the bone. The hams are placed on special machines that make continuous slices down to the bone. Slices are generally 1/8” to 3/16”. If your ham is sliced, don’t worry about the glaze—just brush it on as if the ham were unsliced. Some of the glaze will work its way down between the slices, adding extra flavor.
How To Bake
To heat a baked ham, preheat the oven to 325° F. Place the ham on a rack in a roasting pan in the bottom third of the oven. Bake partially cooked hams to an internal temperature of 160° F and fully cooked hams to a temperature of 140° F. Since I don’t know how large your ham is, I can’t give you exact cooking times.
Using a probe thermometer is a good way to tell when your ham is done without having to open the oven every few minutes. Then, brush on the glaze and let it caramelize under the broiler for three to five minutes, watching carefully to make sure that it doesn’t burn.
No matter what kind of ham you choose allow about ½ pound per person, give or take. Leftovers make great sandwiches and will freeze with no problem for up to two months, so go ahead and go big for the holidays. Oh, and don’t forget that you can make a lovely pea soup using the ham bone.
